BRIGANDINE ABYSS Beginner Guide
BRIGANDINE ABYSS is a tactical strategy RPG from Adglobe, published by NIS America and Happinet, and the sequel to the 1998 classic Brigandine: The Legend of Forsena. You lead one of six factions on the continent of Meltitea, command troops of monsters and humans, develop your base, and fight turn-based battles on a hexagonal grid. This guide covers the core loop and first steps for new players.
How do you play BRIGANDINE ABYSS? You play as one of six factions confronting the reborn Abyssloa Empire. The game alternates between Organization Phases — where you strengthen troops and manage your nation — and Attack Phases — where you invade neighboring nations for resources. Battles are turn-based fights on a hexagonal grid where you command units of monsters and knights.
The Core Loop
- Organization Phase — Strengthen allied troops in preparation for upcoming battles. Efficient task management is key to maximizing your forces' improvements.
- Attack Phase — Invade neighboring nations to obtain resources or strengthen personnel. Whether to invade or not is entirely your call.
- Hex Grid Battles — Battles are turn-based and take place on a hexagonal grid. Focus down enemy leaders to force a retreat, or defeat each unit one by one.
- Nation Building — Develop your base and grow your faction's power across the continent while the New Empire presses its invasion.
- Story & Mission Modes — Story Mode follows the unique narrative of your chosen faction; Mission Mode lets you play as any of 24 nations, each with its own win condition.
First Steps for New Players
- Pick a faction that fits you — Gran Dragnica leads dragons, Scarlet Will rides with unicorns, Mysteine fields knights, Purifanoe fights alongside faeries, Samura Village is a warrior tribe, and Pandemyuon commands forbidden Chimeraization research.
- Use Organization Phases well — Time is limited; strengthen the troops you plan to use and recruit monsters that fit your strategy.
- Decide when to invade — Not every nation needs conquering. Raids yield resources but stretch your forces; weigh the risk.
- Focus enemy leaders in battle — Knock out a commander to force a retreat and end the fight sooner, or grind down every unit for full conquest.
- Try the free demo — A demo is available on Steam (updated to Ver 1.01) and on consoles since July 30, 2026.
